Winter's Delight: The Beautiful Königsee and St. Bartholomew's Church

Winter's Delight: The Beautiful Königsee and St. Bartholomew's Church

We visited the beautiful German Alps region southeast of Munich the other weekend. My husband had been skiing that week so I drove down Friday night after work so we could explore the area together and visit Berchesgaden. He was in a quiet small town that didn't have much for us to do, but made for some really beautiful shots in the morning. The fog had rolled in and was blanketing the landscape quite nicely. The town was so small that I think there was only one restaurant which lucky for us was quite fantastic.

Visiting Neuschwanstein Castle in The Winter

Visiting Neuschwanstein Castle in The Winter

We were heading back today from our Christmas vacation to Sölden, Austria and decided to stop by Neuschwanstein since it was on the way. Neuschwanstein castle has a funny name, but you know it once you see it. It's quite possibly the most famous castle in all the world. Walt Disney modeled the Cinderella castle after Neuschwanstein and with good reason, it's very beautiful and the setting is both dramatic and magical. Even in the winter time it's just as pretty to visit, not only for the castle but also for the views overlooking the valley below and beyond.

Photo Catchup: A Visit To Neuschwanstein

If you happen to read my blog (thank you by the way!) you might have seen that I took a trip to Italy in May with my sister. We drove down to Lake Garda and Venice. I loved Lake Garda with all my heart and wish I could just move there and live and that's what I would do forever until I turned gray. I'm not going to do that, but you should, it's amazing there! Anyway, on the way back we stopped at Neuschwanstein.

Tübingen Germany - My Favorite Town in Southern Germany

Tübingen Germany - My Favorite Town in Southern Germany

I've posted about Tübingen numerous times. I am unequivocally in love with this place. It's so damn romantic and pretty. It has everything you could want; the college town setting along the beautiful Neckar River, those cobblestone streets I can't get enough of, the general atmosphere of the place. It's a bit sleepy but also lively when you want it to be. Oh and prices are so incredibly cheap compared to Stuttgart and both are equal distance from our house.  It's a no-brainer really. A few months back I took some photos and forgot about them until now. Here are a few more from my favorite town in Southern Germany.

A Visit to the Caves in the Swabian Alb

A Visit to the Caves in the Swabian Alb

We took a short 45 minute drive south to visit a cave in the Swabian Alb. This area, while in my backyard, is fairly new to me and I've been having a blast exploring it recently. We went to the Bad Urach waterfall the other weekend and since then I've been researching other areas with the Alb to hike around. I came across a few caves that are close by and within a short distance from one another. These are the Nebenhöhle, the Barenhöhle and the Falkensteiner cave.
